A Message from Your Principal

Dear Parents:

“If we succeed in giving the love of learning, the learning itself is sure to follow.” -- John Lubbock

The first nine weeks has quickly and assuredly come to a close. As our school progresses into the second nine weeks I challenge all to reach for that “love of learning.” As a school we are continually growing and striving to create an effective and engaging school community. We know that we must meet high standards as our students will be expected to demonstrate knowledge and skills on high levels as they move on to high school and beyond. We also know that an engaged mind is a mind that is learning therefore we work toward engaging our students in the learning experience.

Please take a few moments to go over your child’s report card. If you have concerns regarding your child’s academic progress, please contact the teacher(s) either by calling the school at 985-892-3021 or through the teacher’s e-mail available on our website at the Info link on the left side of the home page. Students also brought home an informational brochure on truancy. Attendance at school is critical for student success. Please review the attendance policy as well as other pertinent information to assist students and parents in assuring compliance and success.

Each quarter the administration will meet with the 7th grade and 8th grade students as a class to review our expectations and our Positive Behavior Support program. Students who have no discipline referrals each quarter will be invited to an in-school social to reward their good choices. We invite parents to review our PBS program and to be a part of its planning. For more information, please contact our Assistant Principal, Ms. Eddie Walker.

Pitcher Jr. High school is fortunate to welcome Mrs. Linda Fussell, Parish-wide Assistant Principal, to our school for the second quarter. Mrs. Fussell has been assigned to our school this quarter and will be working closely with the administration. Please welcome her to our Pitcher Proud family.

As always, please contact me or come by to see me if you have any concerns or comments (892-3021). Together, we achieve more! Together, we will build Pitcher Proud.

Sincerely,

Roslyn Hanson, Principal
